Musical ensemble led by Ed Robertson. Current quintet instrumentation: flute/saxophone/vibraphone; piano and contrabass. We are recruiting for viola and cello. Goals: record a demo; play dance, concert, festival and social events.

First Episodes

Tango Extraño

How to capture the impression of tango, but with our own signature? Renewed version, with strings.

Romance Cue

An original intro; segue to the romance cue from Fahrenheit 451 - Bernard Herrmann's film score in waltz time. (I tracked down Herrmann's hand-written studio notes).

Romance Language

A play on words, as my dad taught medieval French. Opens with a piano flourish and has several contrasting sections, making use of Piazzolla-inspired rhythms.

Invitation

Bronislaw Kaper's 1952 film noir theme is now a standard. We pass the haunting melody around to all instruments.

Bachianas Brasileiras

From Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos' famous suite. Originally scored (1938) for soprano + 8 celli, our arrangement, like the MJQ version, uses vibraphone.
